Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a time-tested treatment designed to gently resurface your skin, revealing a smoother, brighter, and more even complexion. At Meg Fox Aesthetics, our chemical peels are customized to your skin’s needs—whether you’re looking to refresh dull skin, soften fine lines, improve texture, or target discoloration.

During treatment, a specialized solution is applied to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin. This controlled resurfacing process stimulates renewal and encourages healthier, more radiant skin to emerge. The result is skin that feels fresh, refined, and rejuvenated.

Chemical peels come in different strengths and can be tailored to your goals, whether you want a light, no-downtime refresh or a more intensive treatment for deeper concerns. With the right plan, peels are a powerful way to maintain youthful, glowing skin and can be integrated seamlessly into your skincare routine.

Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are a powerful way to refresh and renew your skin. Benefits include:

  • Brighter, more even skin tone
  • Smoother texture and softened fine lines
  • Improved appearance of sun damage and discoloration
  • Reduced congestion and breakouts
  • Fresh, healthy-looking skin with a natural glow
Who is a good candidate?

Chemical peels are safe and effective for many skin types. They’re a great option if you want to:

  • Reduce visible sun damage or pigmentation
  • Improve texture, dullness, or rough patches
  • Address early signs of aging like fine lines
  • Minimize acne or congested skin
  • Reveal a more radiant, refreshed complexion

Your provider will help select the right peel strength to match your goals and skin type.

What is the downtime?

Downtime depends on the strength of the peel:

  • Light peels: Minimal to no downtime—skin may look slightly flushed or feel tight for a day or two.
  • Medium/deeper peels: May cause visible peeling or flaking for several days as your skin renews.

Either way, the process is temporary and reveals fresh, glowing skin beneath. Your provider will guide you on what to expect and how to care for your skin after treatment.

What does the treatment feel like?

During a peel, you may feel a warm, tingling, or mild stinging sensation as the solution works on the skin. This typically lasts only a few minutes and is well-tolerated. Afterward, your skin may feel tight, refreshed, or slightly sensitive depending on the peel strength.

The process is quick, safe, and designed to leave your skin looking and feeling renewed.

How often should I schedule Chemical Peels?

Most patients benefit from a series of treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, especially when targeting pigmentation or texture. Light peels can be done more regularly for maintenance, while stronger peels are performed less frequently.

Your provider will create a customized plan to fit your skin goals and lifestyle.

Pre Care Before Your Appointment

To ensure your treatment is safe and effective, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:

1 week before:

  • Avoid waxing, depilatories, or harsh exfoliating products (like retinoids, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid).
  • Limit direct sun exposure and avoid tanning beds.

3–5 days before:

  • Pause the use of strong active skincare (retinol, tretinoin, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide).
  • Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.

Day of treatment:

  • Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, lotion, or sunscreen.
  • Bring a hat to protect your skin on the drive home.

Post Care

After your peel, your skin will be more sensitive. Following these steps will help maximize your results:

Do:

  • Use a gentle cleanser and rich moisturizer to keep skin hydrated.
  • Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily (SPF 30+) and reapply as directed.
  • Stay out of direct sun exposure as much as possible.

Don’t:

  • Pick, scratch, or peel flaking skin—it can cause scarring or uneven healing.
  • Use retinoids, exfoliants, or strong active products until cleared by your provider (usually 5–7 days).
  • Schedule waxing, laser, or other facial treatments until skin is fully healed.
